How do you keep an idea list from becoming an overwhelming task list?
Separate possibilities, open questions and commitments. Move an item into tasks only after selection, voluntary ownership and a clear next action.
Do not assign while recording
Suggesting a booklet does not mean volunteering to edit it. Preserve the idea and purpose before deciding whether to proceed. Clarify whether names in shared notes identify contributors or responsible owners.
Give unused ideas a place
Mark items as saved, awaiting information or not proceeding instead of requesting progress every week. For a selected proposal, specify one next action before expanding the plan. This distinguishes exploration from actual commitments.
A worksheet you can use
Idea: __. Status: saved / investigate / selected. Willing owner: __. Next action: __. Reason not selected: __.
Can keeping too many ideas become pointless?
Archive irrelevant material and duplicates periodically. Saving an idea is not a promise to realize it.
Evidence and scope
Categories cannot solve missing resources. Existing work agreements still require separate attention.
