What should a useful beginner handoff card include after a creative demonstration?

繁體中文版

The Weekend Club · Practical editorial guide · 2026-09-18

Offer one safe starting step, essential materials and a reliable reference. Distinguish personal experience from formal instruction so the recipient knows when more suitable guidance is needed.

Write for someone who missed the demonstration

  1. Describe one small result.
  2. List minimal materials and the first action.
  3. Add a completion check. For paper folding, choose a simple shape requiring no cutting and a diagram you may share rather than distributing scans of a whole instructional book.

Set a reasonable support boundary

Identify the card as personal starter notes, not a full course. Offer public teaching resources or suitable instructors without making appointments for the recipient. Exchanging contact details does not commit you to unlimited troubleshooting, and accepting a card does not indicate buying intent.

A worksheet you can use

Result: __. Materials: __. First action: __. Completion check: __. Lawful reference: __. When further instruction is needed: __.

Should every technique be included?

No. Make the first step usable and direct deeper study to reliable resources.

Evidence and scope

This original sharing tool is unsuitable for hazardous tasks. The author's public introduction is not a quality certification of the card.

The public introduction discusses process sharing. Not a full-book reading. Austin Kleon — Show Your Work!: public book introduction
