What can you bring to a creative meetup without a finished portfolio?

繁體中文版

The Weekend Club · Practical editorial guide · 2026-09-18

Bring one process sample showing a problem you are working on. Share only material you may disclose and identify its unfinished state. A single conversation does not require presenting an exploratory project as mature work.

Choose a visible decision

  1. Select a current project.
  2. Bring a small before-and-after section.
  3. Explain the reason for the change. Two folds in a paper model can start a more concrete discussion than a large folder nobody has time to examine.

Describe before requesting critique

Explain your intention, constraint and current version. Ask whether feedback is welcome rather than turning an interest exchange into a full unpaid review. Prepare the phone screen in advance so client material or private messages are not exposed. If nothing is shareable, describe the problem without showing the work.

A worksheet you can use

Project: __. Shareable sample: __. Version difference: __. Reason: __. Unfinished part: __. Discussion scope: __.

What if the sample looks rough?

Check whether unfinished work is welcome and label it honestly rather than disguising it as final.
