How do you record workshop mistakes so the next attempt is different?
Write the expected result, observed result, step where they diverged and one condition to change. Describe the error before interpreting it as a lack of talent.
Replace failure with an observable difference
In a layout exercise, text might fit initially but become cropped after resizing. Record settings and sequence. Calling yourself bad at design gives you no inspection point. Keep restricted course materials in private notes.
Ask with a minimal sequence
Show the instructor the few steps that produced the difference and ask which condition you may have missed. After receiving guidance, change one element before comparing results. If equipment safety is involved, stop unsafe operation and follow qualified instruction.
A worksheet you can use
Expected: __. Observed: __. Divergence step: __. Settings: __. Guidance received: __. Next change: __.
What if the instructor cannot identify the cause?
Keep it unknown and ask which safe conditions can be checked separately. Do not fill the gap with a guess.
Evidence and scope
A log supports a question; it does not establish the cause or replace equipment training.
