Job-search help in ten US cities: local centres and a visit checklist

繁體中文版

The Weekend Club · Practical editorial guide · 2026-09-23

For local job-search help, start with your city or regional employment provider, then verify service area, appointments and programme eligibility. Dallas and Fort Worth use different regional routes. This directory links to ten cities’ providers, checked on 23 September 2026.

Find the right service area before collecting more websites

  1. Write your residential or job-search ZIP code and whether you need vacancies, resume help, training or industry information.
  2. Use the provider links below to find a centre or contact route. Similar names do not imply the same geography, age requirements or programme eligibility.
  3. Before travelling, ask about appointments, documents and virtual options. Do not rely on an old event date or an address copied into an article.

How the ten-city routes differ

Start with Workforce1 service information in New York. In Los Angeles, distinguish city vacancies from WorkSource support. Chicago’s directory filters by ZIP code and centre type. Houston uses the Gulf Coast provider; Phoenix has a city programme to check. Philadelphia lists centre locations. Confirm regional coverage for San Antonio and San Diego. Dallas and Fort Worth use Greater Dallas and Tarrant County routes respectively. Direct provider links and a suggested check for each city appear in Sources and further reading below.

A filled example

Hypothetical example: a Fort Worth resident searches only for Dallas job events and finds the journey costly. They instead ask Tarrant County’s provider about in-person and virtual options, confirm the relevant service and then plan a visit. This example does not establish eligibility, service receipt or a job outcome.

A worksheet you can use

Before contacting a centre, record city and ZIP code, service needed, original provider link, appointment process, eligibility questions, documents, travel or virtual option and a follow-up date. An enquiry is not a job outcome.

Can networking replace an employment centre?

No. Employment services handle specific job-search needs and programme processes; conversations can add industry context. A useful insight does not establish a vacancy, eligibility or hiring decision. Verify those through the employer or provider.

Evidence and scope

The ten-city scope follows this campaign’s population-based research list, not a ranking of job opportunities. Confirm current provider rules. The weak-ties study concerns LinkedIn, not employment outcomes from offline meals.
