How do you explain which feedback you used in a revision?
Connect each relevant suggestion to a decision and reason in a short change log. Appreciation does not require adopting every comment. Explain deferred suggestions without turning the reply into a debate.
Write a three-part change record
- Summarise the suggestion accurately.
- Mark it implemented, awaiting testing or not adopted for now.
- Give a purpose-related reason and the revision location.
Make the reply checkable
For example: I moved registration timing into the first paragraph; colours remain while I check whether readers can find the information. This is more precise than everything is fixed and does not imply final approval. Naming or quoting reviewers publicly requires separate permission.
What to do with your observation
| Observation | Next action |
|---|---|
| Change is complete | Point to its version and location. |
| Suggestion is deferred | Explain the current purpose without implying implementation. |

Must every public comment receive an individual reply?
Follow the agreed collaboration process. Common themes can be summarised without claiming every comment was addressed.
Evidence and scope
