Does an undocumented personal experiment count as a failure?
Separate not doing the activity, doing it without recording observations and recording no expected change. Missing observations are not evidence of ineffectiveness, and memory should not be converted into precise results.
Reconstruct only what is checkable
- Use existing calendar entries or work to confirm activities.
- Separate records from recollections.
- If the question still matters, add one easy observation next time.
Use a lighter record
You wanted to know whether lunchtime drawing made you want to create again, but remember only one enjoyable day. Keep that impression without claiming a week-long improvement. Next time note whether you want to draw again and any relevant constraint after each attempt.
What to do with your observation
| Observation | Next action |
|---|---|
| Activity happened but results were not recorded | Mark them unknown and simplify future recording. |
| Activity never began | Address the execution barrier before judging its effects. |
A worksheet you can use
Question: __. Confirmed activity: __. Missing observation: __. Recollection: __. Next recording method: __.
Can blanks be entered as zero?
No. Zero requires a defined measure and an observation establishing that nothing occurred.
Evidence and scope
This exercise does not assess health effects. Short personal records cannot establish causation.
