Should you change the teacher or the hobby after a disappointing first class?
Separate the activity, teaching format and conditions that day. One experience can show that a particular class did not fit without settling whether the whole hobby fits you.
Identify the specific mismatch
- Recall moments you wanted to continue or stop.
- Classify the reason as content, pace, environment or temporary circumstances.
- If curiosity remains, test a change addressing the main obstacle before buying a long course.
Change one relevant condition
You liked shaping clay but spent most of class waiting for equipment. Ask about hands-on time elsewhere. If shaping itself held no interest, another activity may be preferable. Continued payment is not proof of perseverance.
What to do with your observation
| Observation | Next action |
|---|---|
| Activity appeals but teaching pace does not | Investigate another format. |
| Core activity holds no interest | Stop without treating renewal as proof of commitment. |

Must I try twice to be fair?
No. Time and willingness matter. You can reserve judgement and choose another activity.
