How do you clarify the cost of an outing before saying yes?

Separate tickets, food, materials and transport. Check which costs are required, which are optional and who pays first. Explain your own limits before checkout instead of guessing what everyone originally meant.

Check what is included

  1. Find the stated price and inclusions.
  2. Ask about additional on-site charges.
  3. Confirm splitting and cancellation arrangements. A materials fee for a craft session does not necessarily include dinner afterwards; separate activities need separate checks.

State a boundary without blame

Explain that you can join the workshop but will skip the later meal, and ask whether that fits the arrangement. This describes your choice without asking others to change their budget. If charges remain unclear, wait before committing payment or request the formal terms. Avoid making assumptions about someone else's finances.

A worksheet you can use

Required items: __. Optional items: __. Payee: __. Split: __. Cancellation terms: __. Personal boundary: __.

Will asking about price spoil the invitation?

A specific early question clarifies expectations; allow the organiser time to answer.

Evidence and scope

This is an activity communication checklist, not financial advice. Actual charging and refund terms control.
