How do you raise meal requirements without explaining them to the whole table?
Use the organiser's designated private channel to state practical requirements, confirm feasibility and then decide whether to attend. You need not explain personal reasons in a public group conversation.
Ask someone able to confirm
- Check the booking page for a requirements field or contact method.
- Ask about specific items.
- Obtain confirmation from whoever actually arranges the food. Another attendee's impression is not enough to verify whether an ingredient is used.
Keep uncertainty visible
Do not turn “probably possible” into a definite assurance. When particular safety requirements matter, ask the responsible person with the ability to verify them; choose another arrangement if confirmation is unavailable. Do not disclose someone else's dietary needs or reasons on their behalf at the gathering.
A worksheet you can use
Requirement: __. Private channel: __. Confirming person: __. Explicit answer: __. Remaining uncertainty: __. Attendance decision: __.
Can I wait until arrival?
That may leave too little time. Raise known requirements early and rely on official confirmation rather than assuming substitutions are always possible.
Evidence and scope
This is a communication workflow, not allergy or medical guidance. It cannot establish that any meal is safe.
